Drum Kid Music

Matt Cordier is a percussionist returning from Honolulu, HI to Chicago, IL.

Prior to his months living Paradise, Matt was a freelance drummer in Chicago, IL. He accompanied dance classes at the Columbia College Dance Center and the Chicago Academy for the Arts. He was the house drummer for St. Alphonsus Church. And could be seen most weekends jumping around like a monkey and banging out rhythms on the dance floor at Chicago's Original Mothers nightclub.

Matt has appeared with his drumsticks on the CBS and WGN Morning News. He has also performed at many festivals and spent more than one summer living out of a van. Currently, he is on staff at the Drummer's Warehouse and teaches private lessons from his home.

Matt attended the Berklee College of Music Summer Performance Camp in 1994. That experience solidified his desire to become a musician. He earned his degree in Music and Dance Performance from Northern Illinois University. After college, Matt continued his education on drum set under the guidance of Sol Garnier. He has also been fortunate enough take lessons with some well known drummers, including Kenny Aronoff, Paul Wertico, and Ruben Alvarez.

Always exploring, Matt has begun dabbling in computer recording, electronic drumming, and art of raising a child.
